Historically, pre-1880 the farrier was the village veternarian. Shoes were applied to working horses, mules and oxen as just one of the procedures. After the divergence of the two practices, farriers became responsible for the locomotion of equine and ox. With the rapid expansion of America, the local
Black Smith would put shoes on just because he could bend steel. Many
people learned to do it themselves out of necessity. Today there are
three types of people shoeing horses: A Step Above Stables is true to the term "Farrier" . We are not simply men who can trim and nail shoes to your horse's hooves. Instead we help preserve your horse's health from his feet up with proper hoof care. If your horse has already developed a muscle related condition or other poor condition of health we may be able to help correct it by proper treatment of the hooves. We do not proclaim to be men of veterinary medicine, but we do practice the old world art of the farrier. We not only do shoeing, we understand nutritional
needs, bio-mechanics, muscle development, and rehabilitation. |
